An impromptu and end of summer century ride in Grand Forks, ND. A century ride is ~100 miles of bicycle riding in a single day. The event starts at 9 am. We will do approximately 3.5 loops of  a combined Greenway & road segment. This will allow people to do 1/3 or 2/3 options or easily opt out if you get tired. The ride stays within Grand Forks and East Grand Forks and offers a great scenic tour of the river, open fields and three golf courses. This ride is free and open to anyone. This ride is un-supported and you are responsible for your own health and well being including food and water. There are a handful of parks along the route to re-water, and amazing grains food co-op will be open to buy food (near the start/finish). We will be taking donations ~$5 or less to cover printing of maps with a possibility of some token of our appreciation.

This year we will be ending at the Co-Op Garden's potluck which is right down the road! So bring your favorite beverage and/or something to contribute for a post ride meal and join us and others as we hang out in the garden. https://www.facebook.com/events/186567444808647/

Location for Garden party / post race potluck is above. If you want to go to the co-op party use the evite invitation above to reservse your place. Looks like members will be $3, non-members $5 for food music and fun. Don't forget to RSVP!

Let us know if you are planning on attending by logging in (you can use Facebook) to www.northernplainsthletics.com and clicking "I am competing"  at the upper right hand corner of the event.

Some notes on this event: It's super chill. That's all. We have a route you can go at whatever pace you want. You can start whenever you want and stop when ever you want. It's free, but we'll take donations to cover some map printing fees and hopefully buy something cool for everyone, Suggested donation is $5 The main group will probably leave at 9am. You can ride with your friends or your enemies. It'll probably take 6-7 hrs if you want to do the whole century (last year it was super windy and only 3 people finished). There is one rough spot on the route, it is one block of a gravel road. It's very rideable and should pose no problems or concerns. It's your century, go where you want. We're just suggesting a general layout and direction for the masses. If you have any questions or concerns contact me or someone else.

Where: We are starting by the big parking lot just east of Amazing Grains (see map). You can buy food there if you are hungry, and we pass Amazing Grains every 30 miles so you can stop and fill up your water or buy some food or eat whatever we were able to scrounge up. I'm sure I'll think of more to say.
