Grand Forks Century Ride [2011]
Primary tabs
UPDATE: Due to the amount of time put into this event and the cost of printing maps and other resources there will be no food or snacks provided. If you want a map, we suggest a $5 donation. But, as always there is plenty of water at all the community parks and a grocery store (Amazing Grains) at the Start/Finish area.
An impromptu and end of summer century ride in Grand Forks ND. A century ride is ~100 miles of bicycle riding in a single day. The event starts at 9 am. We will do approximately 3.5 loops of a combined Greenway & road segment. This will allow people to do 1/3 or 2/3 options or easily opt out if you get tired. The ride stays within Grand Forks and East Grand Forks and offers a great scenic tour of the river, open fields and golf course. This ride is free and open to anyone. This ride is un-supported and you are responsible for your own health and well being including food and water. There are a handful of parks along the route to re-water, and amazing graings food co-op will be open to buy food. We will be taking donations ~$5 or less to cover printing of maps with a possibility of some snacks at the end of the ride.
Let us know if you are planning on attending by logging in (you can use Facebook) to www.northernplainsthletics.com and clicking "I am competing" at the upper right hand corner of the event.

Some notes on this event: It's super chill. That's all. We have a route you can go at whatever pace you want. You can start whenever you want and stop when ever you want. It's free, but we'll take donations to cover some map printing fees and hopefully buy some food for everyone, Suggested donation is $5 The main group will probably leave at 9am. You can ride with your friends or your enemies. It'll probably take 6-7 hrs if you want to do the whole century. There are some rough spots on the route. ie a little dirt and gravel. Don't get mad at us. It's your century, go where you want. We're just suggesting a general layout and direction for the masses. If you have any questions or concerns contact me or someone else. The Fall Frolic will be ending right at the time most of us will be passing through riverside park, be courteous to all the other green-way users. We're officially and un-official event. I hope to see your smiling and frowning faces. OH! and bring enough food for yourself/ emergencies. We are starting by amazing grains so you can buy food there if you are hungry, and we pass Amazing Grains every 30 miles so you can stop and fill up your water or buy some food or eat whatever we were able to scrounge up. I'm sure I'll think of more to say.
